Hey Everyone! I am happy to be here
again to discuss what is happening to our beautiful home, because nothing is
perfect and awareness is important. Indeed, I hope you guys are doing well and
making better choices, no pressure.

I am sure everyone know the 3Rs (Reduce,
Reuse, and Recycle) and this is great to know we are helping to make a positive
change. However, according to Sirena Bergman, there is an error in recycling
and I want to suggest we use a 4th R called ‘Rethink’. In her article,
the carry-home message is, “recycling is an easy cop-out for governments and
large corporations, but the truth is that we have to take very different action
if we want to stop irreversibly poisoning the planet.”1
When I think
about it, business is business and if there is a barrier to income generated
such as plastic straw bans, companies don’t care as long as there is
profitability. So we need to see to see the impact of our actions and listen to
people like Sirena Bergman who say enough is enough. As the saying goes,
prevention is better than cure, won’t it be better if plastic was not in the
equation? Furthermore, I know it will be difficult to make this transition, but
anything is possible as long as we are willing to make a change.
